Rope Drop
If you haven’t heard of rope drop, it means arriving at the parks before they open. Sometimes they open the parks a little early, and you’ll be the very first ones in the parks. Visitors do this to get on the rides that have the longest lines because it’ll be a shorter or nonexistent wait time. You might even get to ride some things twice! If you rope drop a park, it lets you get in early so that you can get more things accomplished in your day as well. OR it can mean taking a break for a much-needed nap later on in the day.
Use the Buses
I know the monorail and the ferry are cool options, but it might just be faster to take the bus. Because the monorail and the ferry are like attractions, more guests want to take them instead of the buses. That being said, the buses are usually not as long of a wait, simply because fewer people are trying to take them. It’s faster, and you get off your feet sooner. It’s not as fancy as the ferry, but it’ll get you back to your room faster.
Bring Your Own: Ice Packs
Snacks. Water. Lunch. All of these things are allowed to enter the park. Like I did initially, I’m sure you thought Disney wanted your money, so you have to buy what they sell in the parks. We talked about this last time, and if you missed the first Disney Tips & Tricks, make sure to check it out. For more Disney tips, here’s a pro tip: freeze some water bottles and put them in a plastic grocery bag with your other drinks from the fridge. They’ll stay cooler longer. They won’t be in a cooler, but they can act as an ice pack for your PB&J sandwiches and water. Plus, you’ll have an ice pack if someone sprains their ankle or gets too hot.
RIP Disney Store
I’m sure if you’re a Disney Adult, you’ve heard that they have closed the Disney stores across the country. However, Target now offers much more Disney clothes and branded items. I was in Target the other day, and they had Disney purses, Disney clothes for all ages, and fun things to wear and bring with you to the parks. If you want to make sure that you’re decked out in Disney branded swag, check out Target before you head out on your trip.

Disney Gift Cards
Did you know that you can buy gift cards from Disney? I’ve seen them in multiple places where gift cards are generally sold for other things. You can ask for them as wedding gifts, birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, etc… to help make your trip easier and cost less. If you purchase them yourself, you can stockpile them over time without spending a dime on property. They take them to the food cantina’s, stores, and more.
Dining Reservations
I’m not just going to tell you to make them ahead of time because I think at this point that’s a given. More Disney tips, means special info. Remember, there are thousands of people in the parks at the same time as you, and everyone eats, so make your reservation ahead of time. BUT I have to say this is one of my favorite tips that my clients LOVE. Make your dinner reservations for after the park closes. You’re probably thinking, “that doesn’t make any sense,” but hear me out. Doing this does a few things for you.
- Fewer people do this, meaning you’re not going to be fighting to get in or having to wait even though you made a reservation.
- When you leave, you get to witness the after-park events. You won’t be able to ride rides or go into the stores, but you’ll still get to see the fun and enjoy the event.
- It extends your day longer. While everyone else is at dinner and trying to grab something to eat, you can capitalize on the shorter lines. Everyone is busy grabbing dinner and getting a spot for the fireworks, but you can be getting on some rides that had long wait times earlier in the day.
- BONUS: You can also make reservations for Breakfast in the morning before the parks open as well. You’d be getting in BEFORE the Rope Drop crowd, and if you do it right, you’ll be able to grab some amazing pics and get on some great rides before the crowds descend. Use a Travel Agent!
I say this a lot, but it can be so helpful in this case. I have the above Disney tips from my travels, experience, and my client’s experiences. I have more Disney tips because I’ve been there and I send clients there. So not only is it helpful to use a travel agent because of the knowledge we gain around tips and tricks, but we also get info before everyone else does. We get notified ahead of time when after-hours events will be released and when other changes occur. We also know how to plan out a day at Disney. These parks are huge, and there’s a lot to cover. We can help you talk through it ahead of time so you know where to start.
I love being able to share my knowledge and help people with their vacations, so if sharing more Disney tips was helpful, I’d love to hear from you! Comment below which tips were the most helpful.
